ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Eighteen soldiers in Minnesota’s Army National Guard are returning home on Veterans Day after being stationed overseas since last year. The other 27 soldiers from their company are scheduled to return next month.
The soldiers are with the 147th Human Resources Company. They’ve been stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In December 2011, they assisted with the drawdown of thousands of soldiers who were returning home from Kuwait.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Ezra J. Schoenike is the supervisor for the group stationed in Kuwait. He says the soldiers received a number of accolades and commendations for their work.
