MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – University of Minnesota women’s basketball player Micaella Riche was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday after she helped lead the Gophers to a pair of wins last week in the Best Buy Classic.
Riche averaged 24.5 points and 10 rebounds per game over the two victories. She also shot 68 percent from the field.
Riche had 29 points and 14 rebounds in a double overtime win over Washington State in the season-opener. She followed that with 20 points and six rebounds in a win over Villanova, shooting 6-of-9 from the field and hitting six free throws.
It was the first Big Ten honor for Riche, a 6-2 junior forward out of Ontario.
