Police: 1 Dead After Shots Reported Fired In S. Mpls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are asking for information after a man died in a hospital emergency room Tuesday after apparently being shot on the city's south side.

Minneapolis Police said they responded to a shots fired call just before 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Street West and Pillsbury Avenue South, near Uptown. After the shots were heard, a man was seen running from the scene, police said. A vehicle also sped off shortly after.

Not long after the gunshots were reported, a vehicle pulled up at the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) with an adult man passenger who had suffered a gunshot wound. The vehicle dropped off the wounded man and left immediately. The man later died in the emergency room. A description of the vehicle was not given.

Police say they believe the shots fired call is linked to the man's death.

No one is in custody. The victim's name will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

If you have any information on the incident, call police at 612-692-8477.
