MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The guitarist of the popular Minneapolis-based band, Solid Gold, is dead after being shot and killed by police.
It was a strange turn of events that led to the death of 30-year-old Paul Heenan. After spending last Friday night at a Madison, Wis., bar, Heenan entered the wrong home assuming it was his.
The homeowners thought they were being robbed and called police. When officers arrived, Heenan tried to grab one of the officers. That’s when he was shot. The couple that shared their home with Heenan spoke to our affiliate in Madison.
“We have to tell our 6-year-old that our best buddy is gone. It was a mistake, and he is not a violent person. He hates guns,” said his roommate Amelia Royko Maurer.
Madison police said they’re conducting an internal investigation to determine if officer’s actions were in line.
