MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — After more than five years, Minnesota’s legal battle over the 35W bridge collapse is finally over.
A California design firm has settled with the state of Minnesota for $8.9 million. Jacobs Engineering Group acquired the company that originally designed the bridge in the 1960s.
The state wanted the company to be at fault for the collapse that killed 13 people and injured 145 others. The firm had argued that too much time had passed, but the U.S. Supreme Court let the case go forward.
