MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has proclaimed Friday Zenon Dance Company Day in the city.

The eclectic dance company opens its 30th season in the Twin Cities and its second season at the Cowles Center in downtown Minneapolis Friday.

Zenon will celebrate with two weekends of signature work for the fall season. The first weekend features new generation choreographers and includes a couple of world premieres. The second weekend showcases classic Zenon repertory.

Zenon is one of the nation’s only professional modern and jazz-dance repertory companies. The troupe’s dancers are known for their physicality, diverse styles and technical virtuosity.
