MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The day after Thanksgiving is not just about Black Friday, for many it’s when they run out to grab the perfect tree – something that can be different for anyone. There are also those who prefer to “pre-tag” on their own time.
“We actually had a family come out that has an 80-year-old mom and they brought her out while it’s nice weather and she picks the tree to go home,” said Jan Donelson, of Jan’s Cut Your Own Christmas Tree in Clear Lake.
It can be easier that way. Not fighting the snow or crowds. All you need to do is pick a tree.
You fill out a “Sold” tag with your information on it. Then find your spot on GPS, so you know where to find your tree when you come back to pick it up.
“It takes the hassle out of everything,” including paying, which doesn’t happen until pick up, which is anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, said Jan.
Many cut your own tree farms offer pre-tagging.
Jan’s will be open all weekend. They say most customers who do this are families who want to spend the time picking out a tree together without the big crowds.
