MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – At least three people died Friday afternoon in Inver Grove Heights when the car they were in collided head-on with a school bus and started on fire, authorities say.
The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Argenta Trail and 77th Street West. Both vehicles were on fire when officers arrived at the scene.
Inver Grove Heights police Lt. Sean Folmar says there were no survivors in the car.
No children were on the bus, and the bus driver suffered no injuries, authorities said. Inver Grove Heights officials say the bus wasn’t one of theirs. A call to officials in nearby Eagan was not answered.
The cause of the crash is not yet known. The identities of those killed are being held until notifications can be made.
Inver Grove Heights police and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
