MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – “If a Cornflake shaped like Illinois can sell for 1,300 bucks, who knows what this will get?”
Danny Haataja didn’t quite get the $1,300 or more he was likely aiming for, but he did manage to get one bidder to purchase his potato he says looks exactly like a duck.
Haataja, of rural Menahga in central Minnesota, put the spud up for bid at the online auction site eBay.
He said the potato looked like a duck even with dirt all over it. Danny’s nephew, Terry Bortle, put it on eBay for a 10-day auction which ended overnight.
The winning bid was for $99.95. It was the only bid for the potato.
The Fargo Forum reported that Haataja had another potato shaped like an alien that would’ve been ripe for open bidding, but he ate the potential profits instead.
