In Battle Of The Bike Shops, Local Kids Win
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On Saturday, about 5,000 children in the Twin Cities will get free bikes thanks to the work of volunteers.
The Free Bikes 4 Kids group has been busy for weeks fixing up donated bikes, but they also have some new bikes to give away.
On Wednesday evening, there was a "Battle of the Bike Shops" held to see who could put together the most in one hour.
The race ended in a tie between Penn Cycle and Tonka Cycle. Each shop completed 21 bikes.
Those 125 new bikes, plus about 5,000 more will be given to kids this Saturday.
