BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) – A 23-year-old Burnsville man was sentenced on Friday to 48 months in prison in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Justin James Schauer.
Kyle Alan Dague was indicted by a Dakota County Grand Jury on July 16 with one count of second-degree manslaughter and reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality. He pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter.
Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said Dague initially lied to police and claimed that the victim had shot himself, when Dague had actually done so.
As WCCO first reported, Dague was playing with the gun when Schauer was shot.
