MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The latest edition of a Minnesota tribute album to The Beatles is now on store shelves.
“Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 4″ was released Tuesday. The album features Minnesota musicians covering songs by the Fab Four, with all proceeds benefiting music education in Minnesota public schools.
Trampled by Turtles, Haley Bonar, DeVotchKa and Astronautalis are among performers on this year’s version. The Bloomington Jefferson High School concert band, which received a $2,000 Minnesota Beatle Project grant in 2011, performs “She Loves You.”
The album is available in CD, digital and limited-edition white vinyl LP formats.
The first three volumes have provided grants to 30 Minnesota schools.
An album release party will be held Saturday at First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis during Curtiss A’s annual John Lennon tribute concert.
