MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — After a dry fall, many were excited about Friday’s snow – and the flakes forecast to fall in winter storm over the weekend.
Ski shops and ski hills geared up for the surge in customers. (You can see snowboarders and skiers enjoying fresh snow-laced runs at Buck Hill in the video above.) Commuters, however, suffered headaches in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and one person died on icy roads near Delano in a head-on crash.
A winter storm warning will be in effect from midnight Saturday to around midnight Sunday. Snow is expected to start falling Saturday evening and some areas may see up to 6 inches of accumulation. Wind speeds are estimated to be around 15-25 mph with gusts reaching speeds of 35 mph.
