MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A car and a SUV collided head-on near Delano Friday night after the car lost control on an icy road, authorities said. The crash left a 24-year-old dead.

The collision happened just before 6 p.m. on Highway 12. The State Patrol says a Toyota Sequoia was heading west on the highway when a Ford Focus lost control and slammed into it.

The driver of the Focus died in the crash. The deceased is from Prior Lake and will be identified after kin are notified.

The driver of the Sequoia — Johana Baughn, 39, of Delano – and a 10-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It is not known if they received treatment.

The crash is still under investigation.
