Authorities: Woman Sexually Assaulted, Robbed In Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a woman was sexually assaulted after walking home from a Minneapolis bus stop early Saturday morning.

At 2 a.m., the victim rode the bus home from downtown Minneapolis to East 34th Street and Chicago Avenue South. While walking home from the bus stop, she believes a man followed her from downtown, grabbed her and dragged her to an isolated area where she was sexually assaulted. She was also robbed of her cell phone and jacket, which had other items.

The suspect is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-2, thin build, dark complexion and wearing a black puffy jacket.

Authorities remind pedestrians to use extra caution and to be aware of strangers loitering in their area. If possible, travel in groups or pairs – especially in the dark.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Melissa Banham at 612-673-2869.
