MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — By now, you’ve probably noticed that it’s 12-12-12. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime date that’s even more special for Annika and Nikki Roisen.

“We are turning 12 on 12-12-12 and we’re twins,” said Annika.

The twins from Nowthen, Minn. celebrated with a group of friends at middle school with matching sweatshirts and 12′s all around.

Annika is the older twin, by two minutes. They’re always together and always treated as special. Particularly as they turn 12 on 12-12-12. So, mom went all out to celebrate.

“They’re getting 12 gifts, 12 cards, anything I could think of that was 12, they’re going to get 12 of,” said Kjirsten Roisen.

That means 12 pieces of pizza, 12 packs of pop, 12 cupcakes for each girl, and special No. 12 sweatshirts.

“It says my name and the date on the front, and has a 12 on the back,” said Nikki.

They even got matching cell phones.

But it turns out they weren’t the only birthday kids. Friends Emma and Cody also turned 12 today, with lower-key celebrations.

“I’m just going to Applebee’s tonight,” said Cody.

Still, this is a time for photo-ops and making memories, because a birthday this special only happens once.
