SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Jerry Olszewski is the new head football coach of Augustana College.

Olszewski is a 19-year coaching veteran who previously served as head coach for St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. He compiled a record of 32-18 in five seasons at St. Olaf, leading all five teams to records of .500 or better.

Before St. Olaf, Olszewski spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Olszewski says faith, family and football will be the cornerstone of the Augustana program, and he’s looking forward to meeting the alumni and engaging in the Sioux Falls community.

Director of Athletics Bill Gross made the announcement during a news conference Wednesday.

Olszewski is Augustana’s 21st head football coach in the program’s history.
