SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say one person was killed and another was critically hurt in a crash in Sauk Rapids Monday afternoon, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to the crash at about 3:25 p.m. Monday near County Road 1 and Osauka Road NE in Sauk Rapids Township. When authorities arrived, they learned a car was heading westbound on County Road 1 when it stopped at a stop sign. When it proceeded, the car turned in front of a pick-up truck, which hit the driver’s side of the car.
The driver of the car, 41-year-old Rukia Hussein of Hopkins, died at the scene. Yasin Hussein, 15 of Hopkins, was transported to St. Cloud Hospital and is currently in critical condition. Another passenger in the car and the driver of the pick-up suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
