DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – A moving tribute to the victims of the Connecticut school tragedy has been created in Duluth.
Former Duluth school board member Harry Welty sculpted a guardian angel that’s wrapping its arms around two young children.
Welty says he was inspired by the Sandy Hook teachers who gave their lives trying to save their students.
“If there was a Congressional Medal of Honor for teaching, they would all be given that award,” Welty said. “They’re angels for protecting our children.”
Drivers going by the sculpture have been honking their horn in support as they drive by.
