MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Kevin Love seems to be in a better place with the Timberwolves after meeting with Glen Taylor. He says he’s looking forward to the future because of Ricky Rubio.

“Yes, I could see myself being here with him for the long term,” Love said.

The word is the St. John’s football job is Mike Grant’s to take or turn down. One of the interesting things he would do is insist John Gagliardi maintains an office and a presence in the program.

Gopher linebacker Keanon Cooper verbally committed to Texas Tech – Minnesota’s upcoming bowl opponent — before committing to Minnesota.

“I had a great relationship with both coaching staffs,” Cooper said. “Growing up in Dallas, I felt more comfortable in an urban area.”

Gopher pitching coach Todd Oakes has been given permission to work next week after intense treatment for leukemia.

Mikko Koivu is back in town. He played in Finland for a team that he is a part owner of before coming back.

And how far would Blair Walsh feel comfortable kicking a field goal in the dome? Good question.

“I could possibly give 65 a try if necessary,” he said. “It would be a possibility.”
