MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An elderly man is in “serious” condition Friday evening after being hit by a car in St. Paul, authorities say.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Snelling Avenue South and West Highland Parkway. The man, whom authorities say is in his 80s, was walking in the crosswalk, going from west to east across Snelling. A car, which was traveling on Highland, hit the man as it made a left-hand turn onto Snelling.

The man’s injuries are not known, and his name was not released.

The driver, who was also not named, stayed at the scene. Authorities say they do not yet know if charges will be filed.

The incident is still under investigation.
