ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is asking Minnesotans to join in a national moment of silence in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.
The moment of silence is being observed at 9:30 a.m. central time on Friday. At about the same time last Friday, a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at the elementary school in Connecticut.
Dayton is also asking Minnesota churches and government buildings with bells to ring them 26 times at that moment to commemorate the dead.
