UPDATE: The family reports the missing teen was found safe on Wednesday, Dec. 26. The family says he was staying with a “former football family.” His mother said he will be taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (WCCO) — The family of a missing New Brighton boy says he ran away and may be unstable, frightened and vulnerable.
Will Michael Ricci, 16, disappeared from his bedroom by exiting a window Friday morning around 4 a.m., according to the family. It is not known if he left with somebody.
He is described as 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, dishwater blond hair and grey blue eyes. He was wearing tan pants and a brown/black Columbia parka.
“Will is very close to his family, dedicated to his siblings, there were no arguments … this is very strange,” said the family in the statement.
New Brighton Police say this is an active missing report. There is always a concern for the safety of a missing child, but police say there currently isn’t anything to indicate that the level of endangerment is extreme.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the New Brighton Police Department at 651-767-0640.
