MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after a 7-year-old boy died on Christmas Day after being hit by a car at his home in Kanabec County, authorities said.

The accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the boy’s home in Whited Township, located northeast of Mora, Minn., the county sheriff’s office said.

After suffering injuries in the accident, the boy was brought to FirstLight Health in Mora before being flown to a hospital in the metro.

The boy, who was not named, did not survive his injuries.

Authorities did not identify the person who was driving the car that hit the child. The investigation is on-going.
