Kandiyohi County Crash Kills Madison Couple

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A couple from far western Minnesota was killed Thursday after the van they were in hit a semi near New London, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities said the crash happened at about 11:17 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 71 in Kandiyohi County. The State Patrol said a 2002 Ford Windstar van was heading eastbound on Highway 9 when a 2005 Freight conventional semi-truck that was headed northbound on Highway 71 hit the van in the middle of the intersection.

Authorities said two people were inside the van at the time of the crash, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. They were later identified as 82-year-old Arthur Dove and 77-year-old Elaine Dove, both of Madison, Minn.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 63-year-old from Hector, is listed in critical condition at a hospital. Authorities said the crash is still under investigation.
