INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say two people are hurt after a double shooting in Inver Grove Heights Tuesday morning and a man is in custody in connection with the incident.

Authorities responded to the area of Highway 52 and 70th Street E. in Inver Grove Heights just before 1 a.m. after a caller said they were in a vehicle and one of the occupants had been shot. When officers got to the scene, an adult female had been shot in the hand. She was taken to a hospital.

About a minute later, a man called 911 from a residence on the 3000 block of Upper 76th Street in Inver Grove Heights saying that he had been shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with several gunshot wounds. Police also found the suspect at the scene at took him into custody. The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Police identified the suspect as Michael Jamar Griffis, 35 of Inver Grove Heights. He is currently in the Dakota County Jail pending criminal charges.
