BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) – Starting Tuesday, many young girls will learn how to use their talents to inspire change in their schools and neighborhoods.
That’s the lesson the American Girl doll Saige Copeland teaches. She’s the doll line’s “Girl of the Year.”
Each American Girl dolls comes with an accompanying story, and in hers, Saige creates a fundraiser to help create an afterschool arts program.
“Sometimes I like to learn because some girls were from a long time ago. It’s kind of fun to see what they did in their life,” said American Girl fan Katie Booth.
In celebration of the doll’s release, the American Girl store at Mall of America is holding free events all week. Families can stop by and get some drawing tips, create some arts-and-crafts and get their picture taken with their dolls.
The dolls are $110 and come with a book.
