EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) – Police are investigating after a 36-year-old man died following an apparent drunken altercation in Eagan, Minn. late Tuesday evening.
Police said they were called to an apartment on the 4500 block of Slater Road. The caller said he had been in a fight with another man, and that the man was unresponsive and not breathing.
When paramedics arrived, they attempted to revive the man, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity was not released.
Police say the caller who said he was involved in the fight with the victim was 28-year-old Samuel Walter Peterson. He and the victim had been roommates since June of last year. Police say they had been called to the residence that month for a noise complaint.
Peterson has a previous arrest on his record for misdemeanor assault, police said. He has been taken into custody.
Investigators say that they took blood alcohol levels on the three other people who were there. Peterson’s results were still pending, but the other two people on the scene had preliminary BAC levels of 0.195 and 0.205.
