MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 25-year-old woman died in western Wisconsin Thursday morning when she lost control of her car on a slippery, snow-dusted road and collided head-on with a van, authorities say.
The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of STH 65 and CTH J in Ellsworth Township, located just southeast of River Falls, Wis.
The Peirce County Sheriff’s Office said Katherine Kennedy, of River Falls, was driving north on STH 65 when she lost control of her Buick LeSabre negotiating a curve. The Buick then crossed the middle of the road and slammed into a Toyota van, driven by 50-year-old William Platz of River Falls. Both cars sustained major damage.
The county medical examiner pronounced Kennedy dead at the scene. Emergency crews brought Platz to River Falls Hospital with undetermined injuries. His condition is not known.
The crash is still under investigation.
