MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Chase Grant scored in overtime as Minnesota State-Mankato rallied to beat Providence 4-3 on Friday in men’s college hockey.
Grant’s tally at 3:26 of overtime was the third shot on goal by the Mavericks (13-6-2) in the extra session. Providence did not have a shot on goal in overtime.
Neither team scored in the third period. Brett Stem’s goal for the Mavericks at 17:37 of the second tied the game.
Eriah Hayes and Josh Nelson also had goal for the Mavericks, who have won 10 of their last 11 games.
Tom Parisi, Paul DeJersey and Derek Army scored for Providence (7-7-3), which dropped to 4-1-0 all-time against Minnesota State-Mankato.
Russ Stein had 31 saves for Providence and Stephon Williams made 29 stops for Minnesota State-Mankato.
