MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after receiving a report of “fake police” who used dash-mounted emergency lights to pull over a woman on County Highway 4.
Officers say they received a call around 7:18 p.m. Saturday that two men in a small, unmarked car used the emergency lights to pull over a woman who was traveling alone, in Biwabik Township, about five miles south of the city.
The person who reported the incident said they became suspicious of the appearance of the men and drove away without being followed.
The sheriff’s office advises motorists who may be suspicious of a vehicle attempting to stop them with police equipment to drive to a well-lit or populated area, call 911 to report the incident and request identification from anyone claiming to be a police officer.
