MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Extremely icy conditions had closed a significant section of westbound Interstate 94 Friday night in northwestern Minnesota, the State Patrol said.
However, by early Saturday morning the road was re-opened.
Sgt. Jesse Grabow had tweeted just before 9:30 p.m. that a section of the road between Alexandria and Fergus Falls had been closed. The section is about 50 miles long.
An accident near the Dalton interchange had prompted the closure, the patrol said in a release.
If motorists were caught driving on the closed road, they could have been fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail.
