COON RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) – The Coon Rapids Crime Prevention Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a driver who was involved in a hit and run that injured a police officer.

According to Coon Rapids Police Cmdr. Paul Sommer, a police community service officer (CSO) was helping a driver on the side of eastbound Highway 10 on Jan. 12. At approximately 7:50 p.m., the officer was struck from behind by the passenger side mirror of a passing vehicle. The impact knocked the CSO against her vehicle, and she then fell to the ground.

The CSO suffered minor injuries to her face, shoulder and ribs. She was treated and released from Mercy Hospital.

The vehicle that struck her is described as a dark colored SUV, possibly a Chevy Suburban or Tahoe. No description of the driver is currently available.

If you have any information about this hit and run, please contact Det. Gary Patterson of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at (763) 323-5039 or (763) 427-1212. You can also contact the Coon Rapids Police Department at (763) 767-6481.
