ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – There is another mile-marker for the newly-restored Union Depot in St Paul. Starting on Monday, Jefferson Lines is providing bus service to and from the majestic station.

Jefferson spokesman Kevin Pursey says this is the first time the depot has been a hub for inner-city bus service.

“Even in the past they did not have inner-city bus [service], which goes throughout both the state and throughout the Midwest and the rest of the country,” he said. “So this is an exciting moment for us.”

Jefferson Lines will have nine arrivals and departures each day with connections to such cities as Duluth, Des Moines and Green Bay.

The depot, which reopened last month following a $243 million restoration, will become a hub for Amtrak this summer and the Central Corridor light rail line next year.
