MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis officials are welcoming 13 new police recruits to the department.
The 12 men and one woman have finished their 17-week Minneapolis Police Academy training, and they will now be partnered up with seasoned police officers for field training.
All of the new recruits had previously worked for the city: 10 of them were community service officers.
With the new additions, the Minneapolis Police Department now has 840 sworn police officers.
Mayor R.T. Rybak, Chief Janee Harteau and other city officials will attend a graduation ceremony Tuesday night at the Walker Art Center.
