Broken Pipe Closes St. Paul Elementary School

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Students were sent home from a St. Paul elementary school after a broken pipe was discovered in the building Wednesday morning, officials said.

Bruce Vento Elementary School, located on the 400 block of Case Avenue, has been closed for the day. Officials said parents of students were notified via robo-calls, but some students might have already left for school as it normally starts at 8:30 a.m.

Those who were already at the school by the time the announcement was made have been redirected to St. Paul Johnson High School on the 1300 block of Arcade Street until their parents can pick them up.

School officials said a water heater broke and started leaking at about 6 a.m., leaving the school unfit to hold classes until repairs and cleaning can be done. Officials said they anticipate school will go on Thursday as normal.
