Vikings Punter Kluwe To Appear On 'Ellen' Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Not long after appearing on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe will make yet another appearance on national television.

Kluwe sat down with TV host Ellen DeGeneres earlier this week, and the interview will air on Friday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show," which is on WCCO-TV Channel 4 at 4 p.m. on weekdays. In the interview, Kluwe talks about the letter he wrote defending gay marriage.

Kluwe also talks about how the "old generation" is dying off in the NFL and that a new generation is taking over that will only help current players who are gay to help find peace and equality away from the field. The next generation is more tolerant and has been raised to accept people's individual choices, Kluwe says.

Kluwe was one of the biggest supporters of the "Vote No" movement in Minnesota last November that helped defeat the marriage amendment, which stated that marriage is a union only between one man and one woman.

Ellen also challenged Kluwe to a punting competition for charity. Tune into WCCO-TV Channel 4 at 4 p.m. to see the interview.
