KIMBALL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 52-year-old farmer in the central Minnesota town of Watkins lost five calves in a barn fire Friday morning, according to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were called at about 4:42 a.m. Friday to a barn fire on the 15000 block of 150th Street in Luxemburg Township, which is about four-and-a-half miles northwest of Kimball. When crews arrived, a barn which had tractors and calves had caught fire, possibly from heating lamps used to keep the calves warm.
Five calves died in the barn, which belonged to Ronald Molitor of Watkins. The barn as suffered severe damage in the blaze.
