MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A late Saturday night crash sent two people, including a state trooper, to the hospital.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night on the 494 on-ramp at Interstate 35W.
Authorities say alcohol is suspected in the crash. The driver who hit the two squads, 39-year-old Maurice Blevins, was arrested Saturday night for criminal vehicular operation.
Two state patrol vehicles were on scene with their lights flashing for a separate crash. According to the police report, Blevins sideswiped one squad car and then rear-ended a second state patrol vehicle.
The trooper whose vehicle was rear-ended went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A passenger in Blevins vehicle was also injured. A third passenger in Blevin’s car, an 11-year-old child, wasn’t hurt and a fourth passenger suffered a few bruises.
The trooper whose vehicle was sideswiped walked away with no injuries.
