ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – The St. Paul Winter Carnival Sled Dog Races have been cancelled because of lack of snow.
The event had been rescheduled for this weekend, but even with our 3 inches of new snow, that’s not enough to make a safe and good trail, according to event organizers.
Meanwhile, the winners of the Winter Carnival ice sculpting competition were announced over the weekend. The individual champion was Greg Schmotzer of Hastings, whose work was called “Parrot in a Cage.” The team carving title went to a Jack Frost sculpture.

All Winter Carnival events are free and open to the public. The Winter Carnival runs through Feb. 3.
