MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The NBA announced Wednesday that Timberwolves forward Kevin Love has received the Kia Community Award for December.

Love received the honor for his charitable work, most notably with his fifth annual Kevin Love Coat Drive. He collected more than 2,500 coats between Nov. 14 and Dec. 12, 2012, which he delivered to the Salvation Army.

Love is also an ambassador for St. Jude, which helps children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Kia and the NBA are donating $10,000 on his behalf to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Love has been out since re-breaking his shooting and and having surgery. He’s expected back sometime in early April.
