AUSTIN, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a man who died in a crash following a police chase killed his elderly father in Austin before the pursuit began.

The Southern Minnesota Regional Coroner’s Office Saturday identified the man who was killed early Friday outside his Austin home as 86-year-old Dennis Seberson. Officials say his death was the result of blunt force trauma.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office identifies the suspect in Dennis Seberson’s murder as his 46-year-old son, Craig Seberson, of Meservey, Iowa.

The younger Seberson died when his vehicle crashed following a 50-mile chase by sheriff’s deputies through three Minnesota counties.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Austin police are investigating the homicide. The State Patrol is investigating the chase and fatal crash.
