MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minneapolis Fire Department recently accepted applications for the first time since 2006. Since then, more than 2,000 people applied. It’s the first step in a process that will include a written exam, oral interview and then an intense physical fitness test.

Frank and Amelia had the chance to try the intense 10-minute firefighting physical test. As you can imagine, it was tough.

The eight-part test, called the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), was built to simulate the actions and exertions of working firefighters. It’s used by 400 departments around the country.

Watch them take the intense test in the report above!
