ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say two people are in critical condition at a hospital Tuesday morning after an apartment fire in St. Paul on Monday.
Crews were called to the blaze just after 3 p.m. Monday on the 1800 block of East Magnolia Avenue. When authorities arrived, two people were found unconscious inside the apartment building and had to be rescued. St. Paul Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard said they were rescued and taken to the hyperbaric chamber at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Authorities said a firefighter also suffered minor injuries battling the blaze. Fire officials said the building did not have a sprinkler system, and careless cooking might be to blame.
