MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Think twice before vandalizing cars in Farmington, Minn., with eggs – or even mustard.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County, 19-year-old Helbert Antonio Zelaya, of Farmington, was charged with one felony count of first-degree criminal damage to property, as the cost to repair a vehicle he vandalized exceeded $1,000.

The complaint states that the victim set up a camera after his car had been recently egged, and it caught Zelaya spraying mustard on the rear, driver’s side and the front of the 2005 Pontiac Montana.

Zelaya was interviewed by investigators and admitted to four or five incidents of damaging the victim’s car while it was parked on the street, including keying the vehicle.

The total damage to the vehicle is estimated to be $1,848.04.
