MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota duo is up for a Grammy Award Sunday for best children’s album.
Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing are childhood friends who make up the Okee Dokee Brothers, a Minneapolis-based bluegrass band. The friends grew up in Colorado and have been making kid-oriented music since 2005. Their album, “Can You Canoe?” , features acoustic songs inspired by a month-long canoe trip the pair took down the Mississippi River.
The Minnesota Orchestra also is nominated for a Grammy, for Best Orchestral Performance, for Jean Sibelius’Symphonies Nos. 2 and 5.
Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra have been locked out since Oct. 1 in a labor dispute.
The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. CST at Los Angles’ Staples Center.
