MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – When everyone talks about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team winning the gold medal, they think of the Americans beating the Russians.
That was actually the semifinal game, and they needed to get past Finland to win the gold medal. Sunday marks the 33-year anniversary since that special day.
Rob McLanahan scored the game-winning goal in the gold medal game, and he stopped by the WCCO Sunday Morning Show to talk about the Herb Brooks Foundation.
The foundation is hosting a benefit on Friday at the Minnesota Music Café in St. Paul. Jimi Jamison will be performing, and general admission is $10. Watch the video report for full details.
