MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 35-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday night on Highway 61 in the east Twin Cities metro, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities say the accident happened Sunday night on Highway 61 at Lower Afton Road in Ramsey County. A 2002 GMC Yukon was headed southbound on Highway 61 when it drifted off the road, clipped the beginning of a guard rail and eventually slammed into a concrete pillar before coming to a stop.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by authorities as David J. James of Maplewood. Authorities say what led up to the accident is under investigation, but that road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
