Old Dutch High School Athlete of the Week: Cassie Alexander

OLD DUTCH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013:

Cassie Alexander

High School – Lakeville North
Class – Senior

 

The senior goaltender had one of the most historic performances in state hockey tournament history when Minnetonka defeated Lakeville North 4-3 in six overtimes in Friday night’s (and Saturday morning’s) Class 2A semifinals. In a game that lasted for four hours and 14 minutes from start to finish and ended after 1 a.m., Cassie broke the state tournament record for saves with 59 while playing all nine periods. Later that day she was back on the ice to help her team win the third-place game. Cassie was named to the all-tournament team and was a top 10 finalist for the Senior Goalie of the Year award. She has a grade-point average of 3.8, is a member of the National Honor, founded a recycling program at Lakeville North and teaches Sunday school.
