MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Lino Lakes man has been accused of swindling a Circle Pines lacrosse association as its treasurer for more than $35,000.

Christopher Bernard Hable, 44, now faces two felony counts, including theft by swindle of over $35,000 and theft of over $5,000. The swindling allegedly while he was working as the treasurer of the Centennial Youth Lacrosse Association.

According to the criminal complaint, on or about May 1, 2010 and continuing until Aug. 31, 2012, Hable issued himself 25 checks, including two for cash, and made several withdrawals that totaled $41,259.02.

In one instance, authorities say Hable wrote out a check of $1,500 with the memo line stating that he paid the YLM dues on his credit card. However, the YLM confirmed they do not accept credit card payments.

If convicted of his charges, Hable could face up to 20 years for the swindling charge and up to 10 years for his theft charge.
